Marbach Werkzeugbau (Tool Manufacturing) presented news from its product portfolio at the international conference "Thin Wall Packaging Cologne" from 4th to 6th December 2017. The Thin Wall Packaging Cologne conference has been a fixed event in the industry for many years. It brings together all manufacturers from the field of thin-walled plastic packaging who meet there to network, and to participate in lectures and workshops. Due to the positive response, Thin Wall events are now also being held in the USA and Asia.
In Cologne, Marbach presented a practical example of product development. In a lecture Marbach introduced the "Turner" to an international audience. The Turner is a thermoformed cup with reclosable screw cap. This is comparable to the well-known metal lid of a jam jar. What makes the Turner so special is that up to now, such closures could only be manufactured with complex tooling techniques that required compromises in product design. The Marbach solution is simpler. Because the Turner can be thermoformed with a standard tool with round cutting geometry.
The Turner has met with great interest in the market over the past few months and was the subject of a lot of discussion among the participants at Thin Wall Packaging in Cologne too.
