The tools from Marbach are known for their performance, and the split anvil is no exception. This is an intelligent solution for reducing make-ready times. It simplifies the set-up process for packaging with the tear-open function reverse-cutting.
Rainer Reizammer, R&D at Marbach Die-Cutting Technology: "Reverse-cutting is a very popular tear-open mechanism because the paperboard looks intact from the outside, before opening, and does spoil the design of the package. A great effect at the point of sale. But in packaging production, this function is not uncomplicated. This is because the paperboard is scored slightly offset from the inside and outside during reverse-cutting. This creates a lot of potential for errors during die-cutting. If the technology is not 100% accurately set-up, the tear-open mechanism will not function properly later. Either the packaging will be cut through and therefore already open, or if the scoring is too low, the packaging will not open properly. It is not easy to hit the perfect point when setting up conventional reverse-cutting. To save our customers time and trouble when setting up reverse cutting technology, we have developed the split anvil."
In the case of the split anvil, the contour-milled aluminum block is split in two, and the upper part of the anvil is screwed onto the lower part of the anvil. Between the two parts there are special underlay foils in various thicknesses. The height of the anvil can be adjusted very quickly and easily by removing or adding the foils.
Reizammer continues: "The special design of the split anvil is designed so that the machine operator can adjust the height of the anvil individually from the front of the tool when setting up the cutting-die. The continuous aluminum design eliminates the possibility of compression during the scoring process. In addition, any necessary make-ready of the scoring rule or counter-scoring rule, e.g. with make-ready tapes on the make-ready sheet, is prevented from spreading to the nearby anvil and thus influencing the scoring result."
The technology not only saves valuable time on the machine, but also improves quality and thus the function of the reverse-cutting in the process, and this throughout the entire run. For beautiful and strong-selling packaging at the point of sale.
