For the tobacco sector, we have special tool solutions in our portfolio. The crease-plate-die|+ and crease-plate-die|rc technologies not only ensure the best creasing results but also productivity during die-cutting and the following packaging process.
Bernhard Reisser, industry manager at Marbach: "Whether the crease-plate-die|+ or the crease-plate-die|rc is used always depends on the design of the blank to be die-cut. The crease-plate-die|+ is always used when packaging with a hinge lid or bevel edge design is to be produced. With crease-plate-die|+ technology, creasing takes place with a defined gauge block. This means that the make-ready can be done extremely precisely and the creasing is very even. This increases the quality of the packaging blanks and the speed during packing."
The crease-plate-die|rc, on the other hand, is a solution specifically for cigarette packaging with a round corner design. The special effect of round corner packaging is created by several creases lying very close together when the packaging is cut. This creates an eye-catching visual effect. However, these closely spaced creases place high technical demands on the cutting-die. For example, round corner creases exert completely different forces on the paperboard than standard creases. To control these forces, the make-ready of the vertical creases can be decoupled from the round corner creases of the crease-plate-die in the crease-plate-die|rc.
Reisser continues: "This decoupling ensures that the make-ready can be carried out very precisely when using a crease-plate-die|rc. The result is high-quality blanks that meet the creasing specifications set by the end customer. Thanks to the wide range of adjustment options on the creasing unit, this also applies to changing cardboard materials and fluctuations in cardboard quality."
Marbach's crease-plate-die solutions stand for high-quality blanks that meet the requirements of cigarette manufacturers in terms of packaging quality and packaging speed.
However, crease plate technology can not only be used in the tobacco sector but also for die-cutting folding cartons when particularly high demands are placed on the creasing.
